Who Is This For?

Patients who want the most cost-effective TMS option.

The One-Day Protocol starts from $2,000 — the lowest-cost TMS option we offer and significantly less than most standard multi-week protocols. Self-pay only.

Patients who cannot commit to weeks of daily sessions.

Work schedules, travel distance, caregiving responsibilities, or other obligations can make a 4-to-6-week daily treatment course impractical. The One-Day Protocol removes that barrier.

Patients traveling from outside the Greater Houston area.

Patients travel from across Texas and beyond for this protocol. One trip, one day, complete treatment.

Patients who prefer a non-medication approach.

The One-Day Protocol is available as a first-line TMS option for patients who want to pursue treatment without trying medication first.

This protocol is self-pay only and is not covered by insurance. Financing is available through CareCredit, and we can work with patients on pricing on a case-by-case basis to make treatment accessible.

The same eligibility requirements apply as for any TMS protocol. Patients with metal implants in or near the head, a history of seizures, or certain neurological conditions may not be candidates. This is evaluated during your consultation with Dr. Nazarani.

What Your Treatment Day Looks Like

Plan for a full day at our Tomball office. The treatment day consists of 20 TMS sessions delivered at 30-minute intervals throughout the day. Each individual session takes approximately three minutes. The rest periods between sessions are built into the protocol design — they are part of how the treatment works, not downtime.

Dr. Nazarani oversees the treatment day. A trained TMS technician delivers the sessions. You are seated comfortably, fully awake, and can use your phone, read, or rest during breaks.

What to bring: Comfortable clothing, food and snacks for the breaks between sessions, and something for entertainment during rest periods (phone, book, tablet). We have a comfortable treatment area, but a full day is a full day — come prepared.

After treatment: Most patients feel tired after a full day of treatment, which is expected. We recommend arranging for someone to drive you home. You can typically resume normal activities the next day.

Cost

The One-Day Accelerated Protocol starts from $2,000. This is the total cost for the complete treatment course.

This is the most cost-effective TMS option we offer. Standard multi-week TMS protocols typically cost significantly more when insurance does not cover treatment, and even with insurance, out-of-pocket costs for standard protocols can be substantial depending on your plan.

The One-Day Protocol is self-pay only and is not covered by insurance.

Financing: CareCredit is available. We can also work with patients on pricing on a case-by-case basis to make treatment accessible.

What the Research Shows

Accelerated TMS protocols have a growing evidence base. The research is newer than for standard multi-week protocols, but the early results are strong, particularly for depression.

Depression

A single-day accelerated protocol (ONE-D) has reported response rates of approximately 80–90% and remission rates of 56–75% by 6 weeks, with results sustained through 12 weeks. These findings come from an initial 32-patient open-label case series. A larger propensity-matched comparison (106 single-day patients versus 191 standard-protocol patients) found approximately 50% remission with the single-day approach compared to approximately 25% with standard treatment at 6 weeks. For reference, the Stanford SAINT trial, a randomized controlled trial of a 5-day accelerated protocol, reported a 79% remission rate. No randomized controlled trial of single-day TMS has been completed, and larger studies are underway.

Anxiety

An open-label study of a single-day protocol for generalized anxiety disorder (N=21) reported response rates of approximately 66–72% and remission rates of approximately 50–56% at 12 weeks. This is early data from a small study.

Results are not immediate. Improvement typically develops over the weeks following the treatment day, with full effects emerging by approximately four to six weeks. Not everyone responds, and Dr. Nazarani will discuss realistic expectations during your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Early research suggests comparable or higher outcomes. The One-Day Protocol delivers the same type of therapeutic stimulation as standard multi-week protocols, compressed into a single day. Dr. Nazarani evaluates whether this protocol is appropriate for your specific situation.

Most patients feel tired after a full day of treatment, which is expected. You may have mild scalp discomfort or headache. We recommend arranging a ride home. You can resume normal activities the next day.

Yes. We monitor your response after treatment. Follow-up can be conducted via telemedicine for patients who are not local. The schedule will be discussed as part of your treatment plan.

Yes. Patients travel from across Texas and beyond. The consultation can be conducted before your treatment day, and the treatment itself requires only one visit to our Tomball office.

Insurance typically covers standard TMS protocols for FDA-approved conditions when treatment-resistant criteria are met. The One-Day Protocol is an accelerated format that falls outside standard insurance coverage. However, at $2,000 starting, it is the most cost-effective TMS option overall.

The One-Day Protocol is primarily used for depression, with early research also supporting its use for anxiety. Dr. Nazarani evaluates each patient individually and determines which protocol and approach are most appropriate for the condition being treated.
