New Patients: What to Expect
Here is exactly what happens when you become a patient at Everhealth, from your first request to your scheduled evaluation. There are no hidden steps. Every part of this process exists for a specific reason, and we explain each one below.
Most of the process is in your hands. You control the pace through registration and paperwork. Once that's complete, your appointment is typically scheduled within 2 to 7 days.
Before You Start
Before you begin the intake process, we want to make sure our practice is the right fit for your needs. This saves your time and ours.
We can help if
- You are age 5 or older
- You are located in Texas
- You are seeking psychiatric evaluation, ongoing psychiatric care, or both
- You are looking for a thorough, evaluation-first approach to treatment
We may not be the right fit if
- You are experiencing a psychiatric emergency
Please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
- You are looking for standalone psychotherapy (talk therapy)
We do not provide standalone therapy, but we recommend appropriate therapy types, point you toward resources to find a therapist, and provide referrals when needed.
- You are seeking treatment for chronic pain
Our practice does not treat pain management conditions.
- You are seeking a specific medication without an evaluation
Every patient begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. It is how we make sure treatment is right for you.
- You are under age 5
We see patients ages 5 and up.
- You are located outside of Texas
You must be located in Texas to receive care at our practice.
If your insurance is not one we accept: We will let you know upfront during the verification process. No surprise billing. We offer competitive self-pay rates, and many patients choose this option.

Submit a Request
You fill out a brief online form with your name, contact information, preferred location, and preferred date and time. There is an optional comment field if you want to share anything upfront.
This takes about two minutes. It is not a commitment. It is a starting point.
What happens next: You receive an immediate confirmation with instructions to register.
- 2
Register and Provide Your Information
You create an account and complete a brief registration with your personal and insurance information.
This step allows us to verify your insurance, confirm your eligibility, and begin preparing for your visit before you ever walk through the door.
What happens next: Our team reviews your information. [Placeholder: This typically takes X business days.]
- 3
Verification and Review
Our staff reviews your registration, verifies your insurance coverage, and confirms that our practice is the right fit for your needs.
This step is on us. You do not need to do anything. We will reach out if we need additional information.
There are no surprises at this stage. If your insurance is not accepted, we will tell you upfront along with our self-pay rates so you can decide how to proceed. If we determine our practice is not the right fit, we will let you know honestly and, where possible, point you in the right direction.
What happens next: You receive a notification letting you know you have been approved and what to do next.

Complete Your Paperwork and Assessments
You begin by completing an online intake form tailored to your population. The intake for children and adolescents is different from the intake for adults, because the relevant history, developmental considerations, and caregiver involvement are different.
Based on what you share in the intake, you then receive a personalized set of validated clinical assessments. These are not generic questionnaires. They are selected based on the specific concerns and history you reported, so they are relevant to your situation. The completed assessments are scored and available to your provider before your visit.
This is where your evaluation starts to take shape. By completing this before your visit, your provider already has a clinical foundation to work from, and your appointment time is focused entirely on understanding you and building a plan.
We know this is the most time-intensive step. It is worth it. Patients consistently tell us their evaluations feel more thorough and focused because of the preparation they did beforehand.
What happens next: Once your paperwork is complete, your appointment is scheduled, typically within 2 to 7 days.

Your Appointment Is Scheduled
Learn more about what happens during your evaluationYour evaluation is confirmed. You receive a confirmation with the date, time, location, provider name, and what to bring.
Bring your photo ID, insurance card, and any relevant medical records. Everything else that needed to happen before your visit has already happened. Your evaluation time is entirely yours.
Your provider will review your assessments, ask questions, get to know your situation, and work with you to build a treatment plan. This is a comprehensive evaluation, not a quick check-in.
What Comes Next
After your evaluation, your provider discusses the recommended treatment plan with you before you leave.
Every new patient's treatment plan is reviewed by the psychiatrist, Dr. Nazarani, as part of our standard clinical workflow. This is an additional layer of oversight built into the process, not something that only happens when a concern arises.
Your first follow-up is typically scheduled within two weeks and is available via telemedicine. The purpose is straightforward: check in on how you are doing, assess early response to treatment, address questions, and adjust the plan if needed.
From there, you transition to ongoing care management. Follow-up visits go beyond medication refills. They include symptom monitoring, psychoeducation, lifestyle and coping strategies, and adjustments to your treatment as your needs change.
Common Questions
You control the pace through Steps 1 through 4. Once your paperwork and assessments are complete, your appointment is typically scheduled within 2 to 7 days.
Yes. The pre-visit assessments are an essential part of our evaluation process. They allow your provider to focus your appointment time on understanding your needs and building a plan rather than collecting background information.
We are not a crisis service. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Our intake process is designed for scheduled evaluations, not urgent or same-day care.
You can note a preference in the request form. We will do our best to accommodate, but availability may vary by location.
That is completely fine. There is no obligation at any step. If you decide not to move forward, you do not need to explain why.
Yes, but every patient at Everhealth begins with a full psychiatric evaluation regardless of prior diagnosis or treatment history. A fresh assessment ensures your current treatment is appropriate and gives us a complete clinical picture to work from. You are welcome to bring records from a previous provider.
We do not prescribe medications without a comprehensive evaluation first. This applies to all patients, including those who have been on a stable medication from another provider. The evaluation ensures that any prescriptions we write are based on our own clinical assessment.
We accept several major insurance plans. During Step 3 of the intake process, we verify your coverage and let you know before you proceed. If your plan is not accepted, we will tell you upfront along with our self-pay rates.
Initial evaluations are conducted in person at one of our four Texas locations: Houston, Tomball, College Station, and Lufkin. After your evaluation, follow-up visits are available via telemedicine.
If we determine during the intake process that your needs would be better served elsewhere, we will tell you. And where possible, we will help point you in the right direction. We would rather be honest about fit than take on a patient we cannot serve well.
