Telemedicine
After your initial evaluation, follow-up psychiatric visits are available via secure video from wherever you are in Texas. Same provider, same visit structure, same clinical quality. The only thing that changes is how you connect.
Who Telemedicine Is For
Telemedicine is available for all established patients, regardless of which location you were originally evaluated at.
Available for
- All follow-up psychiatric visits after your initial in-person evaluation
- Patients seen at any of our four locations (Houston, Tomball, College Station, Lufkin)
- Patients who relocate within Texas and want to continue care without interruption
Not available for
- Initial psychiatric evaluations
These are conducted in person so your provider can perform a thorough first assessment.
A note on our College Station and Lufkin offices: At these locations, initial evaluations are conducted in-office via secure video with a remote provider, with non-clinical staff on site to support your visit. This is different from home-based telemedicine. For full details, see the College Station or Lufkin location pages.
Texas requirement: As a general rule, you must be physically located in Texas at the time of your telemedicine visit. If you're temporarily out of state, contact our office to discuss your options. Prescriptions for controlled medications cannot be filled at pharmacies outside of Texas.
What to Expect
Before your visit
You'll receive a link via text (or email if you prefer) to join your secure video session. On a computer, you can join directly from your browser. On a phone or tablet, you may need to download a free app. You'll need a device with a camera, microphone, and a stable internet connection. Find a quiet, private space for your visit.
During your visit
The visit covers the same ground as an in-person follow-up: medication review, symptom monitoring, psychoeducation, lifestyle and coping strategies, and any adjustments to your treatment plan. The clinical content doesn't change because the format does.
After your visit
Prescriptions are sent electronically, your next follow-up is scheduled, and any next steps are communicated the same way as after an in-person visit.
When in-person visits may be needed
Your provider may occasionally require an in-person visit for vitals, a drug screen, or other clinical needs that can't be addressed by video. For patients who primarily use telemedicine, we recommend arranging to monitor blood pressure and vitals at home and sharing those readings at each visit. Telemedicine regulations are evolving, and periodic in-person visits may also be required as state requirements change.
If video isn't feasible
All visits are conducted via secure video whenever possible. In cases where video is not feasible due to technical difficulties or other circumstances, a telephone visit may be available as an alternative. Your provider can discuss this with you if the situation arises.
Same Cost as In-Person
Telemedicine visits are billed the same as in-person visits. Same insurance coverage, same cash-pay rates. There are no additional fees for choosing telemedicine.

For follow-up psychiatric care, telemedicine is well-supported by research and widely used in psychiatric practice. Your visit covers the same clinical ground whether you're on screen or in the office.
